Hintergrundinformationen über Jeet
Jeets Familie gehört der indigenen Volksgruppe der Magar an. Thapa ist ein nepalesischer Familienname. Er ist in zwei Volksgruppen (Kasten) verbreitet, bei den Chhetris und bei den Magars. Zur Unterscheidung werden diese Bezeichnungen manchmal mit angegeben (zum Beispiel in der Form »Thapa-Magar« oder »Magar-Thapa«). Die Magar sind eine der ethno-linguistischen Voksgruppen, die laut Volkszählung von 2011 etwa 7 % der Gesamtbevölkerung Nepals repräsentieren. Erstmals schriftlich wurden die Magar in der Zeit um 1100 n.C. erwähnt. Ihre angestammte Heimat erstreckt sich vom westlichen und südlichen Rand des Dhaulagiri-Gebietes des Himalaya bis zu den Mahabharat-Ausläufern im Süden und dem Kali Gandaki Flussbecken im Osten. In ihrer Herrschaftszeit gründeten sie ihre eigenen Königreiche im alten Nepal: das Bara Magaranth (12 Magar Königreiche) östlich des Gandaki Flusses gelegen, sowie des Athara Magaranth (18 Magar Königreiche) westlich vom Gandaki Fluß genannt wird. Diese Gebiete werden heute von ihnen bevölkert. Von den etwa zwei Millionen Magar in Nepal sprechen fast achthundert tausend eine der Magar-Sprachen als Muttersprache. Die meisten der anderen (vor allem junge Menschen) sprechen Nepali als Muttersprache. Ebenso wie bei anderen Volksgruppen in Nepal, die ihre eigene Muttersprache sprechen, hilft dies einerseits die Verständigung innerhalb der Gesellschaft deutlich zu verbessern. Andererseits aber führt es allmählich zum Aussterben dieser alten Sprachen. Landwirtschaft und Militär sind heutzutage die Haupteinnahmequellen. Die Magar stellen auch die größte Anzahl von Gurkha-Soldaten außerhalb Nepals.
Jeets Vater Min Bahadur Thapa ist 2011 bei einem Unfall ums Leben gekommen. Seitdem kümmert sich seine Mutter Amrita alleine um ihre vier Kinder. Allerdings schafft sie es nicht alleine für die Kinder zu sorgen, da sie selbst schwer krank ist, sie leidet schon seit einiger Zeit an Leukämie. Auch Jeets älteste Schwester, die siebzehnjährige Gita, leidet an einer schweren chronischen Erkrankung, die eine dauerhafte Therapie notwendig macht, damit sie weiterleben kann. Deshalb hat die jüngere Schwester Dipa die Schule bereits verlassen, um zu arbeiten. Sie arbeitet als Hilfskraft in einem Hotel. Dort putzt sie und spült das Geschirr. Sie arbeitet 15 Stunden am Tag, manchmal auch länger. Mit diesem Job verdient sie immerhin etwa 5.000 Rupees pro Monat, was etwa 40 Euro entspricht. Da das Hotel etwas weiter weg vom Haus ihrer Familie ist und sie kein Geld für Miete oder die tägliche Busfahrt ausgeben kann, schläft sie dort mit den anderen Hilfskräften in einem kleinen Zimmer. Jede Rupie spart sie für die Therapie ihrer Mutter und ihrer Schwester. In Nepal gibt es keine staatliche Unterstützung für die meisten Erkrankungen. Ein geregeltes Krankenversicherungssystem gibt es ebenfalls noch nicht. Wer sich behandeln lassen will muss dafür bezahlen, auch in Notfällen. Die Chemotherapie und die Medikamente für die Mutter und Gita sind zwar sehr viel günstiger als in Europa, aber für die Verhältnisse in Nepal dennoch sehr teuer. Die Familie kämpft jeden Tag darum satt zu werden. Jeet geht im Augenblick noch in die Schule, wenn auch unregelmäßig. Aber das Geld reicht nicht aus, um die Familie zu ernähren, die Medikamente zu bezahlen und die Schule. Sie haben kein Geld für Schulmaterialien, wie Hefte, Stifte, eine Schuluniform, die Prüfungsgebühren und die Schulgebühr.
Hinsichtlich des Kinderschutzes geht es vor allem um Aufklärung, Prävention und Observation, den Schutz vor körperlicher und emotionaler Misshandlung, um eine gewaltlose Erziehung zuhause und in den Schulen, den Zugang zu Bildung und Gesundheitsversorgung ohne Diskriminierung aufgrund von Armut oder der ethnischen Zugehörigkeit, um nur einige Beispiele zu nennen. Die Schulung und Fortbildung aller unserer Mitarbeiter vor Ort in Nepal aber auch in Deutschland ist eine grundlegende Voraussetzung. Ebenso die Aufklärung der Menschen im Umfeld der Kinder. In erster Linie der Eltern, aber auch der Lehrer, Dorfbewohner und Regierungsvertreter. Notwendig sind auch festgelegte Strategien zur Überwachung, Mitteilung, Evaluation und Intervention, in Anpassung an den kulturellen Rahmen und die individuellen Gegebenheiten vor Ort.
Dieses multimodale Konzept ist nicht nur von grundlegender Bedeutung für alle Aspekte der Entwicklung der Kinder. Es schaftt darüber hinaus die notwendigen Rahmenbedingungen, damit eine Patenschaft zum Erfolg werden kann. Zudem ist es Teil unserer Gesamtstrategie der Entwicklungsförderung. In Gorkha leben sehr viele Menschen in großer Armut. Die Möglichkeiten der ökologischen Landwirtschaft beispielsweise eignen sich hier besonders gut, um die Wirtschaftskraft und die Unabhängigkeit der Menschen von Entwicklungsförderung zu stärken. Wir möchten auch Ihnen als Pateneltern in dieser Region zukünftig stärker die Möglichkeit geben sich hierbei aktiv zu beteiligen, wenn Sie dies möchten.
Koordiniert und kontrolliert wird dies einerseits natürlich durch Jeets Betreuerin vor Ort, Saru Thapa im täglichen Kontakt mit den Kindern. Darin einbezogen ist ebenfalls die für den Distrikt Kapilvastu zuständige Mitarbeiterin in unserem Büro in Nepal, Susmita Gurung. Insbesondere auch das Team unseres Kinderschutz- und Entwicklungsnetzwerks, bestehend aus Mitarbeitern in Deutschland und Nepal, sowie eine Task Force, die die Aufgabe hat sich beispielsweise gesundheitlicher oder schulischer Probleme anzunehmen. Im Rahmen der Entwicklungsprojekte ist unser Projekt-Management Team ebenfalls involviert. Durch diese intensive, individuelle Betreuung und Förderung bewirkt die Patenschaft also weit mehr, als nur die dringend notwendige materielle Unterstützung.

So like wise we invited them in our today's program but unfortunately they were busy due to some work and couldn't attend today's program. So we held the program in the presence of ward no. 2 president Bishnu Parasad Poudel Banaganga Municipality, Kapilvastu. We provided all the children School uniform, School Bag, Stationary materials. They were very happy to get such help and support. They were very thankful to Namaste Kids.

On the tenth day known as Tika, people are seen moving around with their foreheads covered with rice Tika, wearing new clothes. There is much feasting as people visit relatives’ homes to receive Tika and blessings.

Jeet is now continuing his studies in management by passing the SEE exam and enrolling in class eleven.

We provided rice, oil, dhaal, flour, rice flour, shampoo and clothes soaps etc. So that this all items are they really needed. And Our district team and office team already called all godparent's children and their family too then our godparent's children's family request to us gave them grocery things. So that we gave them grocery items in this month because in this lock down time most of family have no income so district team and office team decided and gave them groceries items.

Jeet had take a tuition for SEE exam. Jeet's tuition fee was not paid at the time of tuition. And his godparents had sent him some money to pay his tuition fees. The same amount is being handed over to him by the district team.

The aim to prevent the effects of this virus our organization looks forward to provide help to the Kapilvastu district, Banganga Municipality of Gandaki Pradesh. As this place is severely affected because of covid pandemic. Our Namaste Kids office decided to provide help in this area. We gave the following products with the presence Mayor Mangal Prasad Tharu, Sub- Mayor Chakra Mani Aryal ,Head of Administration Basudev Khanan and Administration Branch Officer Keshav Bhattarai and Sub Secretary Baburam Bhattarai.

Im Augenblick befinden sich einige Patenkinder aus mehreren Distrikten in operativer Behandlung: Die körperliche und mentale Gesundheit der Kinder ist uns sehr wichtig. Arme Menschen haben in Nepal praktisch keinen Zugang zur Gesundheitsversorgung. Dies führt auch dazu, dass angeborene oder in der Entwicklung auftretende Erkrankungen nicht erkannt und/oder nicht behandelt werden, mit mehr oder weniger schwerwiegenden Folgen. Aus diesem Grund investieren wir zurecht sehr viel Aufwand und Zeit in Vorsorge und Entwicklungskontrolle jedes einzelnen Kindes, wie entlegen der Wohnort auch sein mag, um gesundheitliche Probleme frühzeitig zu erkennen und zu behandeln, falls erforderlich. Alle Kinder erhalten durch die Patenschaft eine Krankenversicherung. Diese deckt Behandlungskosten in staatlichen Krankenhäusern ab. In sehr schweren Fällen kann es aber erforderlich sein, die technisch und fachlich besser ausgerüsteten privaten Krankenhäuser in Anspruch nehmen zu müssen, um wie in den vergangenen Wochen geschehen, dauerhafte Behinderungen zu vermeiden oder sogar, um das Leben eines Kindes zu bewahren. Auch wenn diese Kosten nicht durch die Krankenversicherung gedeckt sind, ist es für uns völlig klar, dass die Gesundheit des Kindes immer Vorrang hat. Sie als Pateneltern werden von uns umgehend darüber informiert, sollten wir ein gesundheitliches Problem bei Ihrem Patenkind oder Ihren Patenkindern feststellen.

Es ist immer wieder schön zu sehen, wie sehr sich die Kinder über vermeintlich kleine Dinge, wie Schulmaterialien freuen. Sie verstehen schon früh, dass der Weg aus der Armut über die Bildung führt.
Gemäß einer Entscheidung des Obersten Gerichtshofs (Supreme Court) sollte die fünfjährige Grundstufe einschließlich der erforderlichen Bücher und Schuluniformen kostenlos sein. Dies ist die Zielsetzung, aber in der Realität ist das insbesondere in den ländlichen Regionen aufgrund der starken Unterfinanzierung des staatlichen Bildungssystems für die meisten Schulen einfach nicht möglich.

Der durchschnittliche Schulbesuch dauert ca. 2,4 Jahre und der erhebliche Mangel an ausgebildeten Lehrern verstärkt einen vorzeitigen Schulabgang.
Das nepalesische Bildungssystem besteht aus der Vorschule (Nursery und Playgroup, Lower Kindergarden LKG und Upper Kindergarden UKG), einer fünfjährigen Grundstufe, einer fakultativen fünfjährigen unteren Sekundarstufe (Basic Level), sowie einer zweijährigen oberen Sekundarstufe (Higher Secondary Level). Die höheren Bildungsstufen sind den armen Bevölkerungsschichten aus Kostengründen in der Regel nicht zugänglich.
Die Schulkosten für jedes Kind einer Familie sind sehr häufig nicht leistbar. So senden viele Familien nur das erste Kind zur Schule, für alle anderen fehlt das Geld. Sie benötigen unsere Hilfe, denn die Senkung der Analphabeten-Rate ist wichtig für die Zukunft der Kinder und des Landes.
Damit die Kluft zwischen (aus)gebildeten und nicht (aus)gebildeten Menschen in Nepal durch das vorhandene Schulsystem nicht noch weiter auseinander klaffen wird, ist uns eine Steigerung der Unterrichtsqualität öffentlicher „Government Schools“ in unseren Projektgebieten ein sehr wichtiges Anliegen, weshalb wir in diesem Bereich viel Arbeit investieren.
Jeets Schwestern mit der Mutter. Wegen des fehlenden Kranken- und Unfallversicherungssystems müssen Behandlungskosten von den Patienten oder ihren Angehörigen selbst bezahlt werden. Daher beschränkt sich das etablierte Gesundheitssystem überwiegend auf die wohlhabenderen Bevölkerungsschichten.
Für die Kinder in abgelegenen Regionen ist es besonders schwierig, zur Schule zu gehen. Die Wege in Nepal sind oft weit und beschwerlich. Noch dazu sind viele Lehrer in Nepal schlecht ausgebildet. Auch das Lernmaterial ist alles andere als optimal: Es fehlt an Tafeln, Büchern und Stiften. All das erschwert das Lernen.
Für Kinder in Nepal ist es nicht selbstverständlich, zur Schule zu gehen. Millionen Kinder können sich den Schulbesuch ganz einfach nicht leisten. Über die Hälfte der Menschen in Nepal lebt in absoluter Armut, d.h. sie haben nur etwas mehr als 1 Dollar pro Tag.
Als diese Fotos im Februar gemacht wurden, besaß die Familie noch ein paar Ziegen und Hühner, wobei sie durch die Aufzucht und den Verkauf etwas Geld verdienten. Inzwischen aber haben sie die Tiere auch bereits verloren.
Ein mobiler Essenstand dient dieser Mutter und ihrem Sohn als Lebensgrundlage. Sie verkaufen verschiedene, direkt zubereitete kleine Gerichte wie beipielsweise Pakora oder Pani Puri.
Nepals Bevölkerung besteht aus über 100 verschiedenen Volksgruppen mit eigenen Sprachen und Kulturen.
Die Bevölkerung lebt je zur Hälfte im Flachland an der Grenze zu Indien sowie im mittleren Bergland, den sogenannten Hills, die sich aber immerhin zu Höhen von 2000 bis 3000 Meter erheben. Die dominierende Stadtregion ist der Ballungsraum der Hauptstadt Kathmandu mit 3,5 Millionen Einwohnern, sonst gibt es keine Millionenstädte. Mit 15 Prozent ist die Verstädterung im Vergleich zu anderen Entwicklungsländern immer noch sehr niedrig.
In den südlichen Nationalparks, wie z. B. dem Chitwan Nationalpark, leben Tiger, Nashörner, Elefanten, verschiedene Affenarten und Krokodile neben einer großen Vogel- und Schmetterlingspopulation. Im Himalaya Gebirge fühlen sich Braunbären, Wildkatzen wie z. B. Füchse, verschiedene Reh- und Hirscharten sowie Affenarten heimisch. Eine Begegnung mit einem Yak ist in Höhen über 3.000 m unausweichlich. Diese Nutztiere werden zum Lastentransport und zur Feldarbeit eingesetzt. Etwa 10% der Vogelarten weltweit sind in Nepal zu finden.
In dem nepalesischen Ort Lumbini ist vermutlich Buddha geboren. Dieser Ort zählt auch seit 1997 zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe
Nepal besitzt aufgrund der verschiedenen Klimazonen eine vielfältige Pflanzenwelt. Das Terai ist geprägt durch Salbäume und bis zu 6 m hohes Elefantengras, Bambus und Mimosen sowie verschiedenste Kräuterarten. Das durchschnittliche Jahreseinkommen liegt bei etwa 1.000 US Dollar, was Nepal zum zweitärmsten Land Asiens macht.
Nepal ist mit 147.181 qkm etwa so groß wie zwei Fünftel der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (357.093 qkm) und liegt auf der gleichen geografischen Breite wie Kuba. Drei verschiedene Zonen bestimmen das Bild der Landschaft. Jeet lebt in der südlichen tropischen und subtropischen Zone des Terai.
Die staatlichen Bemühungen konzentrieren sich auf eine Basisversorgung in Form von medizinischen Versorgungsposten (health posts). Diese fehlen allerdings häufig in den Bergregionen und in ländlichen Gebieten oder sie sind extrem unterfinanziert und können keine Basisversorgung leisten. Hier herrscht deshalb auch noch die Heiltätigkeit der Schamanen.
Nepal ist ein überwiegend gebirgiges Land inmitten des Himalayas. Es erstreckt sich von der Ganges Tiefebene im Süden, dem Terai, über bergiges Land bis an das tibetanische Hochplateau im Norden mit dem majestätisch anmutenden Himalaya Gebirge. Dort thronen acht der zehn höchsten Gipfel der Erde, der Mount Everest (8.848 m), der Kangchenjunga (8.586 m), der Lotse (8.516 m), der Makalu (8.485 m), der Cho Oyu (8.188 m), der Dhaulagiri I (8.167 m), der Manaslu (8.163 m) und der Annapurna I (8.091 m).

Die hier angebotenen Produkte werden in einer kleinen Manufaktur in Pokhara, Nepal hergestellt von Angehörigen, zumeist Frauen, der sozial schwächsten Gesellschaftsschichten. Für die Herstellung wird Pashmina (Kashmirwolle) aus Nepal verwendet. Die Anfertigung erfolgt noch von Hand und ist ein jahrhundertealtes Kunsthandwerk, dessen Erbe in der heutigen Zeit mit Verbreitung der maschinellen Produktion unbedingt erhalten werden sollte.
Durch den Kauf eines dieser Produkte unterstützen Sie zum einen die Frauen, die diese Dinge herstellen, denn sie werden durch uns direkt an dem Verkaufserlös beteiligt. Zum anderen fördern Sie damit unsere Gesundheits- und Bildungsprojekte für Kinder in den entlegenen und schwer zugänglichen Regionen Nepals.

Binay ist 22 Jahre alt. Es war schon immer sein großer Wunsch den ärmsten der armen zu helfen. Armut ist dort, wo Binay lebt allgegenwärtig. Schon in der Schule musste er miterleben, wie intelligente und fleißige Kinder aufgrund von finanzieller Armut nicht mehr am Unterricht teilnehmen konnten. Mit seiner Arbeit für Namaste Kids hilft er genau solchen Kindern. Die Arbeit ist anstrengend und hart, die Wege sind weit und oft mühsam. Tagtäglich besucht er die Kinder, bei jedem Wetter, ist in Notfällen und als Ansprechpartner für sie da.
Teju Rana ist Sub-District Manager in den Region Butwal und Badelpokhari im Distrikt Rupandehi, nahe der Grenze zu Indien. Zu seinen Aufgaben gehört, neben der Betreuung der Patenkinder dort das Team Managment für alle Betreuer in der Region. Zusätzlich ist er Projektkoordinator für alle Bildungs- und Gesundheitsprojekte im Distrikt Rupandehi.
Wie bewerten Sie die Arbeit von Saru, Binay und Teju mit Ihrem Patenkind ?
Unsere Betreuer für die Patenkinder arbeiten alle praktisch ehrenamtlich. Sie haben alle eines gemeinsam: sie sind jung, sozial engagiert und kommen selbst aus armen Verhältnissen. Wie beispielsweise Kanchhi haben einige auch schon eine kleine Familie und Kinder. Saru, Kanchhi und Teju bekommen pro Patenkind das sie betreuen 500 Nepalesische Rupees pro Monat (ca. 4,50 Euro). Dieses Geld kommt aus einem Spendenpool des Vorstandes und ist gemessen am Arbeitsaufwand sehr wenig. Nicht nur in den Bergregionen des Himalayas sind die Wege zu den Kindern weit. Um die Patenkinder zu sehen sind Saru, Kanchhi und Teju mehrmals wöchentlich einige Stunden unterwegs, zusätzlich zu ihrer eigentlichen Arbeit. Sie haben kein Auto oder Motorrad. Hinzu kommen besondere Anlässe wie Geburtstage, Festtage, der Einkauf der benötigten Dinge am Monatsanfang oder die noch intensivere Betreuung, wenn ein Patenkind beispielsweise erkrankt ist und bei jeder anderen Art von Problemen. Auch müssen sie für die Kinder/die Familien immer erreichbar sein. Die Kosten für die Fahrten zu den Kindern trägt ebenfalls die Organisation. Die Betreuung der Patenkinder machen sie also praktisch ehrenamtlich und dennoch sehr liebevoll und mit so viel Engagement
Wir haben uns daher überlegt, dass wir das Patenportal auch nutzen wollen, um den Pateneltern die Möglichkeit zu geben, den Betreuern Wertschätzung ihrer Arbeit auszudrücken, in Form einer kleinen, einmaligen finanziellen Unterstützung. Es wäre für sie natürlich eine ganz besondere Anerkennung, ihre Arbeit für die Kinder in dem Wissen zu tun, dass diese von den Pateneltern in Deutschland positiv wahrgenommen wird. Es besteht dabei aber absolut keine Erwartungshaltung, denn sie machen diese Arbeit nicht des Geldes wegen und wissen bislang auch gar nichts von dieser neuen Idee.
