Hintergrundinformationen über Laxmi und Suman
Laxmis und Sumans Familie gehört der indigenen Volksgruppe der Magar an. Saru ist ein nepalesischer Familienname. Er ist in zwei Volksgruppen (Kasten) verbreitet, bei den Chhetris und bei den Magars. Zur Unterscheidung werden diese Bezeichnungen manchmal mit angegeben (zum Beispiel in der Form »Gaha-Magar« oder »Magar-Gaha«). Die Magar sind eine der ethno-linguistischen Voksgruppen, die laut Volkszählung von 2011 etwa 7 % der Gesamtbevölkerung Nepals repräsentieren. Erstmals schriftlich wurden die Magar in der Zeit um 1100 n.C. erwähnt. Ihre angestammte Heimat erstreckt sich vom westlichen und südlichen Rand des Dhaulagiri-Gebietes des Himalaya bis zu den Mahabharat-Ausläufern im Süden und dem Kali Gandaki Flussbecken im Osten. In ihrer Herrschaftszeit gründeten sie ihre eigenen Königreiche im alten Nepal: das Bara Magaranth (12 Magar Königreiche) östlich des Gandaki Flusses gelegen, sowie des Athara Magaranth (18 Magar Königreiche) westlich vom Gandaki Fluß genannt wird. Diese Gebiete werden heute von ihnen bevölkert. Von den etwa zwei Millionen Magar in Nepal sprechen fast achthundert tausend eine der Magar-Sprachen als Muttersprache. Die meisten der anderen (vor allem junge Menschen) sprechen Nepali als Muttersprache. Ebenso wie bei anderen Volksgruppen in Nepal, die ihre eigene Muttersprache sprechen, hilft dies einerseits die Verständigung innerhalb der Gesellschaft deutlich zu verbessern. Andererseits aber führt es allmählich zum Aussterben dieser alten Sprachen. Landwirtschaft und Militär sind heutzutage die Haupteinnahmequellen. Die Magar stellen auch die größte Anzahl von Gurkha-Soldaten außerhalb Nepals.
Laxmi und Sumans Vater ist von Geburt an taub. Besonders in den ländlichen Regionen Nepals stellt eine körperliche Behinderung ein großes Problem dar, denn es erschwert die Suche nach einer bezahlten Arbeit ganz massiv. Die allermeisten Tätigkeiten sind rein physisch und setzen Kommunikationsfähigkeit voraus. Aus diesem Grund sind die Möglichkeiten für ihren Vater eingeschränkt. Er arbeitet, wie ihre Mutter auch, als Hilfsarbeiter vor allem auf Baustellen jeder Art in der Region. Meist handelt es sich um um privaten Hausbau. Gelegentlich versorgen sie auch die Tiere anderer Menschen, indem sie Gras als Tierfutter schneiden und dies dorthin transportieren oder den überdachten Unterstand der Tiere säubern. Die Familie besitzt kein eigenes Land, auf dem sie etwas für sich oder gar für den Weiterverkauf anbauen könnten. Dies bedeutet, dass sie für ihre Ernährung und vor allem die ihrer Kinder Geld verdienen müssen. Zu den Saat- oder Erntezeiten arbeiten sie deshalb auch auf den Feldern in der Region, um zusätzlich Nahrungsmittel als Entlohnung zu erhalten. Ihre Eltern haben große Probleme sich selbst und ihre Kinder zu ernähren. An einigen Tagen gibt es nur eine oder gar keine Mahlzeit. Ebenso wenig können sie sich Zugang zu einer Gesundheitsversorgung leisten. Aus diesem Grund sind Laxmi und Suman vor Beginn der Patenschaft bislang noch nie medizinisch untersucht worden. In den ländlichen und den Bergregionen ist die medizinische Versorgung ohnehin extrem schlecht und wird für die meisten Dörfer und Gemeinden nur durch kleine Gesundheitsposten aufrechterhalten, wobei auch das Spektrum der Behandlungsmöglichkeiten sehr klein ist. Diese Health Posts sind oft völlig unterfinanziert und es fehlt an den grundlegendsten Ausstattungen. Für größere gesundheitliche Probleme müssen das jeweilige Distriktkrankenhaus in der Distrikthauptstadt aufgesucht werden. Da diese aber ebenfalls häufig sehr schlecht ausgestattet sind, bleibt dann meist nur die Fahrt in eine der größeren Kliniken, beispielsweise in Kathmandu. Fast jede medizinische Leistung kostenpflichtig, was insbesondere für sehr arme Menschen ein großes Problem darstellt. Auch der Weg ist weit und mit enormen Kosten und Mühen verbunden, weshalb viele Menschen keinen Zugang zu einer ausreichenden Gesundheitsversorgung haben. Kinder aus armen Lebensverhältnissen sind verständlicherweise häufiger krank, denn sie haben keine wettergerechte Kleidung und Bettwäsche, oft nicht einmal ein Bett, sie sind häufig mangelernährt und erhalten eben keine medizinische Betreuung.
Bis vor einigen Monaten lebten auch die beiden ältesten Geschwister, Binita und Aajmi noch zuhause. Da die Familie sich deren Schulausbildung nicht mehr leisten konnte, leben sie nun bei Verwandten im Süden Nepals, im Distrikt Chitwan. Sie arbeiten dort auch, um ihre Schulausbildung mitzufinanzieren. Je älter die Kinder werden, um so höher werden auch die Kosten in Verbindung mit der Schule. Zusätzliche Fächer wie beispielsweise Science oder fortgeschrittenes Englisch, die für einen vollständigen Schulabschluss notwendig sind, müssen auch an staatlichen Schulen zusätzlich bezahlt werden. Auch wenn die Regierung die Vorgabe gibt, dass staatliche Schulen kostenlos sein sollen, versuchen viele Schulen zusätzliche Unterrichtsfächer anzubieten, um ein annähernd vergleichbares Bildungslevel, wie die privaten Schulen zu erlangen. Da allerdings das staatliche Budget der Schulen dafür nicht ausreicht, müssen die Schulen diese Kosten über Gebühren für diese Fächer decken. Das führt zu einer zweiten Ebene der Diskriminierung innerhalb des staatlichen Bildungssystems, neben der zwischen privaten und staatlichen Schulen. Kinder wie Laxmi und Suman haben unter diesen Bedingungen keine Chance auf einen Schulabschluss und der Druck durch die Armut und den Hunger ist groß, weshalb die Zahl der arbeitenden Kinder in Nepal, trotz des offiziellen Verbots, so hoch ist. Kinder und Jugendliche sind natürlich ungelernte Arbeitskräfte und arbeiten deshalb meist auf den Feldern, auf Baustellen, als Geldeinsammler in Bussen oder als Tellerwäscher. Die Diskriminierung aufgrund der Kaste und der Armut ist aber signifikant stärker ausgeprägt als die, aufgrund des Geschlechtes. Gemeinsam mit den Pateneltern leisten wir einen wirkungsvollen Beitrag, um dies bereits in den Schulen zu verändern. Dafür ist eine der Voraussetzungen, dass Kinder einigermaßen vergleichbare Bedingungen haben und nicht von Beginn an aufgrund ihrer Armut benachteiligt sind und der frühzeitige Schulabbruch vorprogrammiert ist.
Hinsichtlich des Kinderschutzes geht es vor allem um Aufklärung, Prävention und Observation, den Schutz vor körperlicher und emotionaler Misshandlung, um eine gewaltlose Erziehung zuhause und in den Schulen, den Zugang zu Bildung und Gesundheitsversorgung ohne Diskriminierung aufgrund von Armut oder der ethnischen Zugehörigkeit, um nur einige Beispiele zu nennen. Die Schulung und Fortbildung aller unserer Mitarbeiter vor Ort in Nepal aber auch in Deutschland ist eine grundlegende Voraussetzung. Ebenso die Aufklärung der Menschen im Umfeld der Kinder. In erster Linie der Eltern, aber auch der Lehrer, Dorfbewohner und Regierungsvertreter. Notwendig sind auch festgelegte Strategien zur Überwachung, Mitteilung, Evaluation und Intervention, in Anpassung an den kulturellen Rahmen und die individuellen Gegebenheiten vor Ort.
Dieses multimodale Konzept ist nicht nur von grundlegender Bedeutung für alle Aspekte der Entwicklung der Kinder. Es schaftt darüber hinaus die notwendigen Rahmenbedingungen, damit eine Patenschaft zum Erfolg werden kann. Zudem ist es Teil unserer Gesamtstrategie der Entwicklungsförderung. In der Region Ghiring, sowie im angrenzenden Distrikt Nawalpur leben sehr viele Menschen in großer Armut. Die Möglichkeiten der ökologischen Landwirtschaft beispielsweise eignen sich hier besonders gut, um die Wirtschaftskraft und die Unabhängigkeit der Menschen von Entwicklungsförderung zu stärken. Wir möchten auch Ihnen als Pateneltern in dieser Region zukünftig stärker die Möglichkeit geben sich hierbei aktiv zu beteiligen, wenn Sie dies möchten.
Koordiniert und kontrolliert wird dies einerseits natürlich durch Laxmi und Sumans Betreuerin vor Ort, Beni Maya Kumal im täglichen Kontakt mit den Kindern. Darin einbezogen ist ebenfalls die für den Distrikt zuständige Mitarbeiterin in unserem Büro in Nepal, Manju Rana Magar. Insbesondere auch das Team unseres Kinderschutz- und Entwicklungsnetzwerks, bestehend aus Mitarbeitern in Deutschland und Nepal, sowie eine Task Force (Case Management), die die Aufgabe hat sich beispielsweise gesundheitlicher oder schulischer Probleme anzunehmen. Im Rahmen der Entwicklungsprojekte ist unser Projekt-Management Team ebenfalls involviert. Durch diese intensive, individuelle Betreuung und Förderung bewirkt die Patenschaft weit mehr, als allein die dringend notwendige materielle Unterstützung.

They are very happy and Merry Christmas to you. Nepali Christian people start shopping from the beginning of December. At first, Only Christian religious people are celebrated this festival in Nepal. But now nepal new generation all nepali are celebrated in Christmas. In Nepal Christmas trees are erected at homes with lots of decorations on it. Trees are decorated with bells, starts, reindeers, gift boxes, and many other decorations. The Christmas trees are lit up with twinkling lights. People attend services in the church during the mid night. In the morning people visit the houses of friends and convey their best wishes. Gifts are being exchanged. In the Nepal evenings the Christian homes host special Christmas feasts. The feast comprises roasted chicken, vegetable salad and other Nepali foods along with turkey, pumpkin pies and Christmas puddings. now all Nepali celebrates the birth of Lord Jesus with zeal and enthusiasm.

This festival is Nepali's long and most important festival. On the tenth day known as Tika, people are seen moving around with their foreheads covered with rice tika, wearing new clothes. There is much feasting as people visit relatives’ homes to receive tika and blessings.

Here is all children school is closed in Nepal. Because Nepali's most important fastival is coming soon. At this time our support they are very happy and these clothes can help to manage them this time. A large number of animals are officially sacrificed at Hanuman Dhoka during Nawami which is attended by officials, invitees and visitors.During the ninth day, the Taleju Temple which is normally out of bounds is also open to the public. The last day, known as Kojagrat Purnima, is the full moon. New clothes, home visits, grand feasts, kite flying and village swings are the highlights of Dashain. Around this time the population of Kathmandu is greatly reduced as many head home to various parts of the country.

seit wenigen Tagen befindet sich Nepal wieder in einem harten Lockdown. Der Verkehr, auch der Flugverkehr sind eingestellt. die Krankenhäuser insbesondere in den südlichen Distrikten und in Kathmandu an der Belastungsgrenze. Nepal hat eine sehr lange Grenze mit Indien, die durch den Dschungel viele Lücken besitzt und niemals vollständig geschlossen werden kann. Viele Wanderarbeiter werden von ihren Familien zurückgerufen und versuchen in das Land zu kommen, auch auf inoffiziellen Wegen. Erschwerend hinzu kommt, dass in staatlichen Krankenhäusern nur 1 Intensivbett für etwa 140.000 Einwohner zur Verfügung steht und die Versorgung beispielsweise mit Medikamenten fast ausschließlich aus Indien erfolgt. Das Impfen musste unterbrochen werden, nachdem man festgestellt hat, dass in dem chinesischen Impfstoff aktive und replikationsfähige Viren in großen Mengen enthalten waren.

Die hier angebotenen Produkte werden in einer kleinen Manufaktur in Pokhara, Nepal hergestellt von Angehörigen, zumeist Frauen, der sozial schwächsten Gesellschaftsschichten. Für die Herstellung wird Pashmina (Kashmirwolle) aus Nepal verwendet. Die Anfertigung erfolgt noch von Hand und ist ein jahrhundertealtes Kunsthandwerk, dessen Erbe in der heutigen Zeit mit Verbreitung der maschinellen Produktion unbedingt erhalten werden sollte.
Durch den Kauf eines dieser Produkte unterstützen Sie zum einen die Frauen, die diese Dinge herstellen, denn sie werden durch uns direkt an dem Verkaufserlös beteiligt. Zum anderen fördern Sie damit unsere Gesundheits- und Bildungsprojekte für Kinder in den entlegenen und schwer zugänglichen Regionen Nepals.

Beni Maya Kumal ist unsere Mitarbeiterin im Distrikt Nawalparasi und der angrenzenden Region Ghiring des Distriktes Tanahun. Beni Maya ist Lehrerin an der dortigen Grundschule. Zu ihren Aufgaben im Rahmen ihrer Tätigkeit für Namaste Kids gehört vor allem die Betreuung der Patenkinder, insbesondere der Mädchen in dieser Region. Da die Besiedlung in Nawalparasi sehr gering und weitläufig ist und es keine Straßen und Geschäfte gibt, muss sie mehrmals wöchentlich weite Strecken zurücklegen, um die Patenkinder zu betreuen. Darüber hinaus koordiniert sie gemeinsam mit Betreuer Khem Bahadur Nepali unsere Bildungs- und Gesundheitsprojekte dort. Beni lebt mit ihren Eltern in Bungdikali, einem Gaunpalika (Gemeinde) im Norden Nawalparasis.
Wie bewerten Sie die Arbeit von Beni Maya Kumal mit Ihrem Patenkind ?
Unsere Betreuer für die Patenkinder arbeiten alle praktisch ehrenamtlich. Sie haben alle eines gemeinsam: sie sind jung, sozial engagiert und kommen selbst aus armen Verhältnissen. Beni Kumal ist 28 Jahre alt und arbeitet als Grundschullehrerin. Sie erhält pro Patenkind, das sie betreut 500 Nepalesische Rupees im Monat (ca. 4,30 Euro). Dieses Geld kommt aus einem Spendenpool des Vorstandes und ist gemessen am Arbeitsaufwand wenig. Besonders in den Bergregionen des Himalaya sind die Wege zu den Kindern weit und mühsam. Um die Patenkinder zu sehen ist Beni an mehreren Tagen in der Woche 1 bis 5 Stunden unterwegs, zusätzlich zu ihrer eigentlichen Arbeit als Lehrerin an der regionalen Grundschule. Hinzu kommen besondere Anlässe wie Geburtstage, der Einkauf der benötigten Dinge im Laufe eines Monats oder die noch intensivere Betreuung, wenn ein Patenkind beispielsweise erkrankt ist. Um die Fotos oder Videos der Kinder zu versenden, muss Beni auf einen etwa 30 Minuten von ihrem Elternhaus entfernten Hügel hinaufsteigen. Auch das Entgegennehmen der Post für die Patenkinder, die ihr aus unserem Büro in Pokhara per Bus oder Jeep zugeschickt werden, ist nicht ganz mühelos. Die nächste Busstation in der Region Ghiring befindet sich etwa 45 Minuten entfernt. Ein Schwerpunkt ihrer Arbeit ist neben dem sozialen Aspekt vor allem auch die emotionale Betreuung der Kinder. Sie muss daher für die Kinder/die Familien immer erreichbar sein.
Wir haben uns daher überlegt, dass wir das Patenportal auch nutzen möchten, um den Pateneltern die Möglichkeit zu geben, den Betreuern Wertschätzung ihrer Arbeit auszudrücken, in Form einer kleinen, einmaligen finanziellen Unterstützung. Es wäre für sie natürlich eine ganz besondere Anerkennung, ihre Arbeit für die Kinder in dem Wissen zu tun, dass diese von den Pateneltern in Deutschland positiv wahrgenommen wird. Es besteht dabei aber absolut keine Erwartungshaltung, denn sie machen diese Arbeit nicht des Geldes wegen.
